BARBERSHOP CHORUS AWARDS TWO SCHOLARSHIPS

     The Virginia Gentlemen Barbershop Harmony Chorus presented the fourth annual Virginia Gentlemen, John Tully Memorial Scholarship to Sarah Short on Monday, June 11, 2007. This scholarship rewards a high school senior who has shown exceptional talent, leadership, and dedication to his or her high school music program and plans to continue participation in vocal music in college.
     For her accomplishments in vocal music, a $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Sarah Short, a Hi
dden Valley High School senior. Sarah won All-District and All-State Chorus honors the past two years. In addition, she was a member of the Drama Club and

 Mother Beverly Short, scholarship winner Sarah Short, father Bill Short and scholarship committee chairman Ed Burke.

the Beta Club. Her grade point average exceeded 4.0. Sarah will attend Christopher Newport University in the fall where she plans to major in Musical Theatre and French.
     Because of the large number of qualified applicants for the Tully Scholarship, the Chorus decided to award a second scholarship of $500.00. This award went to Anna Kelly, a graduate of Northside High School. Anna will attend Shenandoah Music Conservatory and plans to major in Music and Vocal Performance.
