GENTS NOTES 14 April 2008
The "Q" in SPEBSQSA (By Jim Karl, Gents Notes editor. Disclaimer. The following expresses
only the thoughts of the editor and not necessarily those of "the management".)
Well, duhhh, everyone knows that the Q stands for quartet! But maybe we tend to overlook this fundamental part of our foundation, our history and our craft. And it appears to this editor that a
significant number in our Chapter are a bit "hesitant" to engage in this very enjoyable and rewarding activity. Maybe it's a "bit of shyness"? Maybe a lack of confidence? Perhaps the fear of making a
mistake - out there naked? But let's look at the glass a being half full, not half empty. There are great rewards to be had. Confidence is built. Mistakes are fixed (aka you really have to learn
the music). It develops your sense of "showmanship". And most importantly it "sharpens your ear" for improved blending which carries over into your performance in the chorus. With that being said,
this editor offers no call to action, other than to encourage everyone to take every opportunity to sing as a foursome and not just inside the chorus.
Rehearsal Schedule
Unless otherwise noted, all rehearsals are held at the Lewis Gale Foundation building every Monday evening from 7:30pm to
10:00pm. Directions may be found in the You're Invited! section of this site.
